Former University of Oregon all-American Dan Nelson led from start to finish in Thursday's 29th Annual Butte to Butte 10-kilometer road race to claim his second victory in the annual Fourth of July event.
Nelson's time of 30 minutes, 41 seconds just bettered his 1998 winning time of 30:42 on a day when the 3,350 Butte to Butte participants were the most in at least 17 years.
Eugene's Susannah Beck also became a two-time winner as the first woman to cross the finish line Thursday. Her time of 34:57 put her 15th overall and was six seconds off her 1997 winning time of 34:51. The Yale graduate, who finished ...
