Pullman's place in history is certain, but its future is fuzzy.

Though the state has invested more than $5 million since 1991 in preserving historic buildings in various states of disrepair-and recently pumped another $13 million into preservation efforts in the Far South Side neighborhood-there is little to show for it so far.
