The old adage, "The more things change, the more they remain the same," is way off the mark when it comes to real estate finance. Recent and radical changes in the mortgage market have placed banks in a hitherto unrealized position of industry leadership, creating the need (especially among community banks) to reconsider their attitudes towards participating in the secondary market.
