Port District to hit car rental firms with fees
Local car rental companies not based at Lindbergh Field will begin paying an additional 7 percent access fee to the San Diego Unified Port District under a plan approved unanimously by port commissioners.
The new fee will take effect Jan. 1 on about 50 car rental agencies, which to date have not been required to pay the Port District, operator of the airport, anything beyond a $200 a year charge for each courtesy shuttle.
