TORONTO - Earlier this week, Red Sox fans made Chris Carpenter change his travel plans.
Yesterday, the Blue Jays right-hander made 'em wish they'd changed theirs instead.
Carpenter threw seven shutout innings to become the winning pitcher in Toronto's 4-1 victory over the Red Sox. He did so before a SkyDome crowd of 28,112 that had a working majority of vacationing Red Sox fans.
Carpenter knew that. Those fans had already been in his way.
"After the (All-Star) break last week," said Carpenter, a resident of Bedford, N.H., "I tried to book a flight back to Toronto out of our Manchester (N.H.) airport, and I couldn't. They were all sold ...
