Jul. 12--LINCOLN, Neb.--Nothing like losing a big company and its high-paying jobs to shake up civic boosters and elected officials of a community.
That's what happened in Lincoln when the Gallup Organization announced in the summer of 2000 that most of its operations were being moved from Lincoln to a new operational headquarters and leadership training center along the Missouri River in Omaha.
A consultant was hired by the City of Lincoln and a Technology Council appointed by the mayor to look at the economic environment in Lincoln.
