ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian environmental, medical, and farming organisations have strongly criticised plans to import toxic waste from Europe. Up to 3,000 tonnes of waste would be used as fertiliser, imported by a Sydney company, Farmoz, from Danish herbicide manufacturer, Cheminova. Of major concern is glyphosate, contained in the waste material. Australian organisations opposed to the import have presented a submission to the Australian Government, seeking "urgent action" on banning the waste, to provide a precedent to dissuade other importers.
