Introduction
Soil water content and bulk density are parameters commonly used to characterise and to study the physical behaviour of soils in agronomic systems. They have a fundamental influence on important soil and plant processes such as water movement, soil compaction, tillage, and root growth. They are therefore valuable parameters to assess the impact of soil and crop management practices. Many contributions related to methods and techniques to monitor these properties can be found in the literature. Due to their great spatial and temporal variability within a given field, a large number of measurements are necessary for a reliable characterisation. ...
