More companies have joined Telkom, Indosat and Satelindo in the business of operating Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) with 12 companies allowed to operate as VoIP providers. Through VoIP the cost of direct long distance call (SLJJ) and international direct dial (SLI) is cheaper. Illegal operation of VoIP has cut the income of Indosat from international calls--down from Rp 545 billion in the first quarter of 2001 to Rp 522.3 billion in the same period in 2002.
