Jul. 16--If voters repeal Miami-Dade's gay-rights law in September, the county could lose out on hosting the 2004 Democratic National Convention, party officials warned Monday during a visit to South Florida.
"Would it matter if a piece of legislation passed that was antagonistic to a core part of our Democratic Party, gays and lesbians? Sure, it would matter," said Joe Andrew, immediate past chairman of the Democratic National Committee and co-chairman of the 2004 convention site committee.
