When you hear the name Doris Day, you think of a 1950s and '60s star with a blonde, bubble-cut hairdo, singing mostly wholesome songs.
Karen Oberlin's cabaret presentatation, "Secret Love: A Tribute to the True Doris Day,"takes a deeper, layered look at the singer and movie star. There's nary a mention of her leading men or of such movies as "Pillow Talk" and "Lover Come Back."
Oberlin, a native of Syracuse, tells the audience that she will not be performing any of Day's "bouncy songs."
