PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA'S BALLOON SATELLITE LAUNCHED
The People's Republic of China's first balloon satellite, Atmosphere 1, that was launched onboard a Long March 4 recently, now is in orbit and has begun to inflate, an official from the Space Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) said last week.
The Atmosphere 1 will collect data on atmospheric density at altitudes of 400-900 km above sea level. The 5 satellite observation stations, located in Changchun, Nanjing, Lintong, Kunming and Guangzhou, successfully observed the balloon satellite and provided the first photographic data.
