Early results published recently in the Journal of the American Medical Association from a trial into Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) have revealed that long-term users may carry a 26% greater risk of developing breast cancer, a 29% risk of heart disease and a 41% risk of strokes.
In fact the findings have caused so much concern that US authorities have ordered researchers to end the eight-year study involving more than 16,000 women three years early.
