A 21ST century Spanish Armada yesterday seized back control of a disputed Mediterranean island.
Two corvettes, two frigates and a landing craft stood by as three helicopters landed 28 special forces soldiers on tiny, uninhabited Perejil - which means Parsley Island.
Its sole defenders - six Moroccan soldiers who had landed there at the weekend - surrendered immediately.
Perejil, a rock barely the size of a football pitch, lies just 200 yards from the Moroccan coast, but Spain insists the island is part of its nearby North African enclave of Ceuta.
