ARLINGTON, Texas _ Rangers third baseman Herbert Perry is not known for his slugging abilities, and he has battled plenty of injuries in his career. Yet this year, Perry could be pegged as a healthy power hitter.
Perry, 32, tied a career high for home runs Tuesday against the Royals with his 12th of the season, matching his 2000 season total. With Perry's home runs have come runs batted in, as his 43 RBI rank him third among Rangers players. Only Alex Rodriguez and Rafael Palmeiro have more home runs and RBI than Perry this year.
The lone downfall, in Perry's opinion, is that while his RBI total has been soaring, his batting average has been sliding.
