Hoteliers agree to acquire aging Torrey Pines Inn

A founder of the La Costa Hotel & Spa and his son-in-law have agreed to buy the rustic Torrey Pines Inn from the heirs of the previous owner.

Allard Roen, a wealthy businessman and former co-owner of the chic resort in La Costa, and Ted Mellon, Roen's son-in-law and the current general manager of Torrey Pines Inn, have formed Torrey Pines Resort Limited to acquire the North La Jolla property. The deal, in escrow, is expected to close in April, said Mellon, who declined to disclose the selling price.
