The photograph may say it all.
Carrying the rainbow banner of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community at the Madison Pride Parade a year ago this week was a group of straight allies, not the people labeled outsiders by virtue of sex or gender identity.
The straight world was also broadly represented among those opposed to discrimination in the Boy Scout funding controversy this year.
"There were just as many, if not more, straight folks as LGBT folks" among the 250 organizations that joined the Coalition for an Inclusive United Way, said Debra Weill, director of OutReach.
