While our No1 sporting city enjoys the spotlight, the capital's ageing venues are rotting in the shadows THIS week the eyes of 1.7 billion people across the Commonwealth will be focused on an English city, but it won't be London. It won't even be Birmingham, England's second city.
It will be Manchester, host to the 27th Commonwealth Games, which open on Thursday.
