Never mind the 500 miles he's swum. Never mind the countless aches and pains he's had, the stormy weather that's slowed him down and the sleepless nights he's endured.
Right now, marathon swimmer Martin Strel just wants to focus on the task at hand.
"It doesn't matter," he said Friday with his arms outstretched and a grin on his face when asked how he was feeling. "I must swim."
The Slovenian's swim down the length of the Mississippi River began July 4 at its source in Lake Itasca, and reached the Twin Cities on Friday - Strel swam about 30 miles from Dayton to the Lake Street Bridge in Minneapolis. ...
