Unsettled economy leads to bolstering of corporate images
In marked contrast to the advertising industry, the public relations business is booming. Local agencies report hiring increases and expanded client lists, as well as expanded services.
One of the reasons is the general unsettled condition of the rest of the economy. "We're going through volatile times economically, politically and to an extent socially," said Martin Cooper, president of Encino-based Cooper Communications and first vice president of the Los Angeles chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
