How fast is security video moving from analog to digital?
You can gauge the evolutionary speed by viewing what's happening the consumer side. Just weeks ago, for instance, Circuit City, the second-largest electronics retailer in the U.S., said it is phasing out sales of videotape movies to make way for digital video disks or DVDs.
At Blockbuster, that retailer reported $799 million in DYD rentals in 2001, compared with $ 289 million the previous year. That's a 176 percent increase in just one year.
