Europe has been hit with a host of food problems in recent years from Salmonella to Campylobacter to mad cow disease. Another item on this list is dioxin, a category of toxic compounds in the polychlorinated dibenzopdioxin (PCDD) family. Dioxins are byproducts of various combustion practices and chemical processes such as waste incineration, chlorine bleaching and pesticide production.
