CORRECTION PUBLISHED 07/27/02: This article incorrectly reported that Inver Grove Heights Mayor Joe Atkins said a Wal-Mart store would have brought in $7 million to $7.5 million in taxes. Atkins said Wal-Mart's proposal, which was voted down by the city council, would have utilized 177,000 square feet of the available land and transferred an additional 74,400 square feet to untaxable permanent open space. That would have eliminated $7 million of potential property tax income, he said.
