KENILWORTH, N.J. -- Summer is a time to look forward to barbecues, beaches, picnics, and traveling. Yet for the estimated 50 million allergy sufferers in the nation, soaring pollen levels can dampen summer fun. According to Surveillance Data Inc., a national pollen reporting agency, 99 percent of Americans live in areas where pollen counts are expected to be higher than or equal to last summer's. Pollen levels are expected to be particularly high across many major metropolitan areas, including Los Angeles, Seattle, Las Vegas, Houston, New Orleans, Charlotte, and Minneapolis, the agency reports.
