Med Mal Study Boosts No-Fault System
NEW YORK CITY - Two major contentions by supporters of the current tort system for settling malpractice claims in New York have little basis in fact, according to a state-commissioned Harvard study.
Doctors have blamed the litigation system currently in place for driving up malpractice insurance premiums to an unsupportable level and, in some cases, driving them out of practice altogether in the state.
