In December 2001, Gillette Argentina closed its only plant in Argentina. The company had plans to import all its production from other factories of the Gillette group, but it will change its strategy now. The Exal group, manufacturer of aluminium packaging which operates in the United States and Argentina, acquired Gillette's plant and agreed to continue manufacturing the products that Gillette produced locally. The factory operates under the name Exal Packaging now. The company has already restarted the production of deodorants, women's cream and shaving cream for Gillette.
