When you send your children to one of the local vacation Bible schools, you expect them to play games, sing songs and, of course, learn about God and the Bible. But those attending the SonCanyon River Adventure vacation Bible school last week at the First United Methodist Church of Palatine learned some survival skills from local Scouts as well.
The theme for the week was "Survival Skills for Life: From Proverbs" and the curriculum included a unit on real-life survival skills. When it came to deciding who would teach the survival skills, organizers had an inspired idea - have local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts teach the lessons.
