Jul. 26--With a new $30 million contract in his pocket, Waco business owner Carey Hobbs will need more than 100 new employees who can stand the heat -- literally.
Dignitaries Thursday broke a sweat at Hobbs' news conference, which he held in a work area at Hobbs Bonded Fibers in Waco. There, and not in an office, "is where the rubber meets the road," he said.
"You have to kind of feel it to understand," said Hobbs of the sweltering conditions.
Hobbs said it would be "impractical" to install air conditioning.
