A Montezuma man was sentenced to 10 years' probation, the first six months of which he will spend on electronic homebound detention, for having sexual contact with a child.

David Spinosa, 50, of 9040 Fox Ridge Road pleaded guilty to attempted sexual abuse in Cayuga County Court in June, admitting he had inappropriate sexual contact with a young girl in October.

Judge Peter E. Corning ordered Spinosa to undergo sexual abuse counseling in Syracuse and issued an order of protection for the girl.

"I'm very sorry it happened, and it will never happen again," Spinosa told Corning just before sentencing.
