According to "Jordan Times", the Petra Region Authority (PRA) recently completed the JD480,000 first phase of construction works on a dam to stem potential flash floods from the mountains surrounding Petra in order to safeguard the ancient city and its visitors. The construction work on the dam, which began early this year, is part of several projects currently undertaken by the PRA to upgrade and expand infrastructure in Petra.
