Article: Correction, please! (Letters to the Editor).

THE NEW AMERICAN has usually exhibited evidence of careful research and proofreading. However, you committed some real horrors in the recent July 15th issue, p.33, "Protector of the Nez Perce," first paragraph, sentence beginning with "In 1805...."

First, you transposed the first and last names of Lewis and Clark, and then you misspelled Meriwether as "Merriwether." The correct reading should be Meriwether Lewis and William Clark.

Such lack of care brings disrepute on conservatives, confirming the liberal propaganda that we are undereducated and "easily led."
