This edition of Town and Country Planning contains a series of articles commenting on the process of Welsh policy-making and the evolving product in the areas of land use planning and sustainability. While some commentators have questioned the practical impact and value of the National Assembly for Wales, there can be no doubt that the Assembly in total, and the Welsh Assembly Government (the phrase now used to describe the `ruling' Labour/Liberal Democrat alliance), have been striving to ensure that policy is made in Wales rather than merely being translated (as often happened under the former Welsh Office).
