THERE have been more wedding ceremonies in Coronation Street than in any other road in Britain. And none of the marriages has lasted for long. But that is the nature of serial soap romance.

Love blossoms on Monday evenings and fades on Fridays. Broken hearts quickly mend, and the ebb and flow of emotions keep 'the Street' at the top of the ratings - far more genuine in its exposure of basic passions than the Big Brother circus, which claims to show us human nature in the raw.
