Jul. 30--Fuel Pizza, which started life in Charlotte in a former gas station on Central Avenue, is popping up in some of the Charlotte area's most prime real estate these days.
The company, which began as a mom-and-pop operation (or more precisely, a dad-and-stepson one), is now poised to become a regional -- and someday, national -- name. The owners' goal: opening 50 new restaurants in the next four years.
Fuel has succeeded where other upstarts have failed by plugging a gaping hole in Charlotte's restaurant scene: walkup places to buy New York-style pizza ...
