Builder makes `no commitment' on downtown hotel-office plaza

Complex planned for '93 next to Convention Center

Ohbayashi America Corp., the expected builder of Pacific Basin Plaza -- the $450 million, 1,781-room, hotel-office complex proposed to go up next to the Los Angeles City Convention Center -- last week said it has made no commitments to the crucial development.

"We can make no comment. We have made no commitments," said Aoto Kuni, vice president at Los Angeles-based Ohbayashi America, the domestic arm of Tokyo-based Ohbayashi Inc., Japan's largest contractor.
