A MERSEYSIDE pharmaceutical company is contacting every chemist in Britain to recall 750,000 asthma inhalers.
A problem with a machine used to fill inhalers at GlaxoSmithKline's Speke factory means some inhalers in batches made since April last year do not contain enough of the active ingredients used to treat asthma.
The fault means a patient using one of the faulty inhalers to stop an asthma attack would get less relief than normal.
Routine monitoring picked up the fault two weeks ago and 50 workers at the Speke plant, which produces 50m aerosol products each year, were put on an investigation team.
