CCTV cameras have produced more than 6,000 arrests in five years in just one North Wales town, it was revealed yesterday.
The system, which now includes 47 cameras across Wrexham, has captured 4,196 incidents on film since 1997.
A total of 6,058 people have been arrested. Wrexham council crime and disorder director Terry Garner, and Supt Michele Williams of north Wales Police, said CCTV was having a dramatic impact on reducing crime and catching offenders.
Mr Garner said: ``CCTV has had a significant impact on crime in Wrexham. It has also assisted in reducing the public's fear of crime in many areas.
