On Sundays, Karen Maher starts her nursing shift at Harborview Medical Center at 7 a.m.
So when Washington State Ferries announced that it might cancel the 5:35 a.m. ferry she usually takes from Bainbridge Island, it posed a problem.
Under the proposal, the first ferry from the island on Sundays would set sail at 7:10 a.m. and would reach Colman Dock sometime around 7:45.
The Bainbridge Island-Seattle ferry has essentially run on the same schedule for the past 15 years. Over that time, more and more people have moved to the island and started using the ferry.
