This installment of "What They're Listening To" offers John W. Barker, a retired University of Wisconsin professor of medieval history, who also is a nationally known record critic.
An avid fan of early music, Barker sits on the board of directors of the Madison Early Music Festival, which recently held its third annual festival. During the festival, Barker presented a lecture about early music that is available on CDs.
Periodically, he will offer selections from that list and recommended CDs from other historical periods up to the Baroque and Classical eras in this column .
