Artists tend to evolve. One might start out with charcoal on paper, dabble in watercolors, spread oils on canvas with large brushes or mix media before finding fame by dripping paint on oversize bras, for example.
Melinda Phillips is an artist whose career has evolved from weaving to designing ready-to-wear clothing and quilting to custom-cut patterns, interspersed with Japanese dyeing techniques (shibori), fabric painting and silk screening.
