New Yorkers can hop on an Amtrak train and catch a ride straight to the New York State Fair's back door this year.
Amtrak is offering reduced fares, and the state fair is building a new platform at Gate 11, at the back corner near the Horse Barns, to accommodate train passengers.
It's part of the state fair's efforts to draw greater numbers of customers from outside the 60-mile circle around Syracuse, said fair director Peter Cappuccilli Jr.
