LIVERPOOL were given a harsh lesson in the quality of Europe's elite as they suffered a comprehensive defeat.
For all the significant strides made by Gerard Houllier in recent years, Liverpool still do not have the talent of Real Madrid, with the likes of Zinedine Zidane and Luis Figo in their line-up.
And the Anfield men were cruelly exposed at times, made to look second-rate in the face of true class produced by the Frenchman and his Portuguese soul-mate.
