Aug. 4--TWIN FALLS, Idaho--A barley grower with a history of advocating the interests of grain producers has been picked to serve on the Idaho Barley Commission.
Evan Hayes was appointed by Gov. Dirk Kempthorne to serve a three-year term on the commission. He represents eastern Idaho from Power County to the Wyoming and Utah borders.
Clark Kauffman, chairman of the IBC and a producer from Filer, said one of the strengths Hayes brings to the commission is his knowledge of myriad grain issues, particularly transportation and the farm bill.
