FORT WORTH, Texas _ In one season, Michigan's running game went from Anthony Thomas, the school's all-time leading rusher who ended his career in 2000, to just a bunch of guys trying to run the ball.
Last season, the Wolverines' running game was ninth in the 11-team Big Ten Conference. B.J. Askew, who led Michigan in rushing with 831 yards, has been moved to fullback. That probably means that the tailback job will go to junior Chris Perry. And Wolverines fans hope that he's ready for a breakout season.
