The Iraqi National Congress (INC) and Iraqi National Movement, a rival opposition group supported by the U.S. State Department, according to AFP, postponed a 26 July news conference to unveil a provisional Iraqi government. According to the 27 July London-based Arabic daily "al Hayat," Iraqi Kurdish groups had expressed their reservations. The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) control approximately 10 percent of Iraq, an area roughly equivalent to Switzerland in size.
