AKRON, Ohio _ As people seek to unlock the mysteries of their genetic makeup and peek into their medical future, they're finding a surprising ally: their health insurance company.
Insurers increasingly are willing to pay for genetic testing and the counseling that experts say should go along with learning the potentially life-altering results.
In fact, some health insurers now encourage people to consider taking these tests when the results would change the treatment or preventive measures a patient needs.
