BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Maynard, Cooper & Gale, P.C. has won a total defense verdict in a case where 22 plaintiffs sued Pemco Aeroplex, Inc. alleging a racially hostile working environment and asking for $33 million in total damages, according to attorney Jeff Lee. The case, tried in the U.S. District Court under Judge William Acker's rule, began June 3 and ended June 28 with the 22 defense verdicts.
According to Lee, the case revolved around anonymous harassment including racist graffiti in restroom stalls and the appearance of hangman's nooses hung in the Pemco facility. Additionally, racist documents circulated the facility. Plaintiffs wanted to hold Pemco ...
