A Eugene woman who spent 2 1/2 weeks in a tree to protest old growth logging on the Willamette National Forest came down from her perch Thursday night.
Erin Mannix, who had gone by the name "Basil" during her demonstration at the Berry Patch timber sale east of Lowell, voluntarily descended the Douglas fir about 9 p.m., Forest Service officials said Friday.
Mannix was not arrested or cited, but Forest Service law enforcement officers took her name and confiscated her climbing gear. She faces a charge of interfering with an agricultural operation, a Class A misdemeanor.
