Expert Says Excess Alcohol, Not Fat May Be Tied To Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is one of the leading cancer killers of women in this country and this year it will cause an estimated 44,000 deaths. Diets high in fat and alcohol have been suggested as possible causes of breast cancer, but research findings are mixed. We spoke with Walter Willett, M.D., Dr.P.H., Professor of Epidemiology and Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health, about his highly publicized research (See EN, July 1989) on diet and breast cancer.
