THERE IS AN OLD GOLF ADAGE that is considered wise and prudent: Never beat the boss. Obviously, Jimmie Johnson doesn't believe it applies to NASCAR racing.
The sizzling rookie consistently beat his boss--and most of the rest of Winston Cup--during the first half of the season, capturing the Daytona 500 pole, winning two of the first 16 races, and soaring as high as second in the championship point standings.
